CLEO BOISVERT Obituary

BOISVERT, CLEO O., 90, of Washington St., Coventry, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 22, 2018 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Cynthia L. (Horta) Boisvert for 30 years, and the late Rita (Butler) Boisvert for 35 years before her passing on December 31, 1984.  Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Frank D. and Juliet (Grandchamp) Boisvert.

 

Cleo graduated from West Warwick High School in 1945 as Valedictorian and President of his class. He was an Eagle Scout for the Boy Scouts of America, and Scoutmaster for Troop One in Arctic with Louis Archambault. Cleo was a basketball coach for local CYO, and West Warwick Basketball teams sponsored by the former St. Onge’s clothing store. Cleo retired from the National Biscuit Company after 25 years of dedicated service. Cleo filled in for vacationing fishermen on the Hillbilly and Ing Toffer fishing vessels, captained by Paul Harvey. Cleo held the rank of Sargent for several years in the Kentish Guards, a RI Revolutionary War militia unit. He was a lifetime and oldest member and historian for Club Fronenac; in West Warwick; lifetime member to Club Jogues in Coventry; and lifetime member to the PASC in West Warwick. Cleo enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and fishing with his brother Bob, quahogging, and loved watching the birds & squirrels in his back yard in his final years.  Cleo was an aficionado on the American Indian and the American Civil War. Cleo was an avid reader and loved his crossword puzzles which he did in ink.

Cleo and his wife Cynthia traveled cross country and enjoyed several trips to Las Vegas. His most memorable trip was to Zion National Park.

 

He was the father of Denise Boisvert & husband Stephen DiNobile, Margaret Boisvert Florio & husband David, Mike Horta and his companion Melisssa, Lori Horta and Dora Horta. Cleo is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was the brother of Roland Boisvert, Robert Boisvert and the late Edgar Boisvert.

 

His funeral will be Friday, January 26, 2018 at 9 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saints John & James Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours are Thursday 4 – 7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Civil War Trust ( www.civilwar.org ) would be appreciated.
