DESTEFANO, Emilia R. (Petrone), 96, formerly of Coventry and Cranston, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Cra-Mar Meadows in Cranston. She was the wife of the late Alfred DeStefano.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Margherita (Capuano) Petrone.
Emilia graduated from Central High School in Providence in 1939. One of Emilia’s first positions was in the main office of the Benny’s stores in Providence. Later in life Emilia worked in jewelry for many years at Bay Sales in Cranston, before retiring. Emilia was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by a son, Alfred C. DeStefano and his wife Suzanne of Coventry. She is also survived by two grandsons, Phillip DeStefano of Coventry and Nicholas DeStefano and his wife Rachael Dunn of Seattle, Washington. She was the mother of the late Marguerite DeStefano and sister of the late Joseph Petrone.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 62 Pleasant St., West Warwick. Burial in St. Ann Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours and flowers respectfully omitted.
