JOHN N. MACOMBER

MACOMBER, John N., 70, of Rice City Rd., Greene, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Kent Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of 48 years to Linda J. (Orabona) Macomber.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John H. and Helen (Cain) Macomber.

John received his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Rhode Island.  He was a Business teacher and founder of the DECA Giving Project at Coventry High School for 28 years.  He was also the coach of several tennis and baseball teams at the school.  Farmer John ran the Macomber Blueberry Farm for 33 years.  John enjoyed 11 years working as an ambassador for Loon Mountain.  He was an active parishioner for 48 years at Saints John and Paul Church.  He was a member of the Patriot Guard and Knights of Columbus.  John loved chopping wood, joyrides on his motorcycle and frequenting the White Mountains with his family.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Julie Macomber Pierson and her husband Matthew of East Greenwich, Lisa Arnold and her husband Stephen of Glocester, Colleen Lindstrom and her husband Mathew of Glocester and Alex Macomber and his wife Kelsey of Salem, NH; a brother, Paul Macomber of Providence; his sister-in-law Diane Notarianni; four grandchildren, Ethan, Brooke and Shane Arnold and Rylan Macomber and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 am in SS. John & Paul Church, Coventry.  Burial will be private for the family.  Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Coventry, RI (ADDITIONAL PARKING AT OUR LADY OF CZENSTOCHOWA CHURCH, 445 WASHINGTON ST., COVENTRY, RI).   In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name to SS. John and Paul Church, 341 South Main St., Coventry, RI 02816 would be appreciated.
