IANNOTTI, ROBERT A., 85, of Coventry and Charlestown, RI, son of the late Giacomo “Jack” and Rose (Campanini) Iannotti and first generation Funeral Director, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT, seven days after his 85thbirthday. He was happily married to the love of his life Suzanne E. (Henault) Iannotti RN, for 59 years.
After graduating from Coventry High School in 1950, in 1952 he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Bryant University at the age of nineteen. While matriculating at Bryant he would go every day after class to the Chisholm Home, now the Russel J. Boyle Funeral Home on Smith St. in Providence to serve as an intern in Funeral Service under the supervision of the late Russell J. Boyle, to whom he would always be grateful.
He was a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War, and under the GI Bill he earned a degree from the New England Institute of Anatomy, Embalming and Sanitary Science in Boston. In 1958, Bob, his late mother and brothers established the Robert A. Iannotti Funeral Home. While he was working to establish a clientele for the funeral business, Bob attended a URI extension program to become a Licensed Real Estate Broker and Insurance Agent. In 1964, Bob and the late Sylvia Senerchia opened Reliable Realty, which became a very successful agency selling many properties in the Kent County Area. In 1980, because of high interest rates, the agency was closed as the Funeral Home was beginning to flourish. In January, 2009, the Iannotti Funeral Home was purchased by his son Robert A. Iannotti, Jr. and his wife Kim. Their son, Robert A. Iannotti III is a third generation Funeral Director.
Bob served as a corporator of Centreville Bank and former Trustee for over 26 years. He was also a past member of many organizations, clubs, and committees: the Academy of Certified Funeral Service Practitioners, Coventry School Committee, Coventry Jaycees, Msgr. Blessing K of C, Coventry-West Greenwich Lodge of Elks, Rhode Island and National Funeral Directors Associations, West Bay Korean War Veterans, Sgt. David Papineau Post American Legion, Crompton PNA, Travelers Protective Association, Pawtuxet Valley Rotary Club, Coventry Chamber of Commerce, Club Frontenac and Sixty Inc. of Valley Country Club. He was also a volunteer Fireman for many years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by daughter Rosemary V. Dever, NP of Charlestown, sons Robert A. Iannotti, Jr. and wife Kim of Warwick ,Thomas A. Iannotti of Missouri, daughter-in-law Paula Iannotti of West Warwick; grandchildren, Robert A. Iannotti III, James F. and Connor A. Dever, Rachel L. Iannotti and Joseph M. Lannigan; great-granddaughter Aubrey Rose and many nieces, nephews and friends at the LeBaron in Hillsboro Beach Florida where he enjoyed pool time in the winter. He was the brother of the late Jack, Edward, Armand and Albert Iannotti.
His Funeral will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 8:45 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in SS. John & Paul Church, Coventry. Entombment with Military Honors will take place in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Sunday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
