DANIEL JOSEPH MICHALSKI

MICHALSKI, Daniel J., 88, of Colby Dr., passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Kent Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Mary A. (Zemba) Michalski.

Born in Coventry, he was a son of the late Adam and Mary (Kusiak) Michalski.

Dan was a 1949 alumni of Coventry High school and kept up with his classmates for decades.  He served in the US armed forces (army) from 1952-1954 before getting married in 1956. He worked as a driver for Warwick Club and then Pepsi Cola before acquiring a job with the U.S. Post office in 1964.  He retired in 1992 after 29 years as a letter carrier.  He and Mary enjoyed years of polka and square dancing for which they won awards.  His hobbies included woodworking, fishing and bike riding.  Dan was also an avid gardener and had a large vegetable garden for years.  He used to say working out in his backyard was his therapy.  Dan took much pride in his ability to fix just about anything. Indeed, he never had to call in hired help until his physical challenges made it too difficult for him to do it himself. Dan was a member of the Polish National Alliance, Korean War Veterans, Knights of Columbus and served as Chaplain for the America Legion.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Jane Wilhelm and her husband Thomas of Baltimore, MD and Diane Ventura and her husband Paul of West Warwick; a sister, Loretta Kaczor of Blackstone, MA and 4 grandchildren, Lindsay and Erica Ventura and Lauren and Nicole Wilhelm.

Visitation will be held Monday morning August 20, 2018 from 8:30 – 10:30 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church.  Inurnment with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Daniel’s name to Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington St., Coventry, RI 02816 would be appreciated.
