DANTE DICAPRIO Obituary

DICAPRIO, DANTE, 88, of West Warwick, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Kent Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Dorothy E. “Dotty” (Bonn) DiCaprio for the past 68 years.  Born in West Warwick to late Pasquale DiCaprio Sr. and the late Rachela (Gazzero) DiCaprio.

Dante served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Town of West Warwick Public Works Department until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2, Natick Seniors Bowling League, RI Chapter 94 Retirees, and a former member of Local 2045 for which he served many years as an executive board member and also the Narragansett Bow Hunters Club.  He was the biggest New York Yankees fan and was known as “Yankee Danny”, he was an avid outdoorsman, loved bowling and gardening and was known for making “Pop’s” pizza with fresh tomatoes from his garden.  What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family who he loved more than life itself.  There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his children and grandchildren whom he loved deeply.  He was a true family man first and foremost.

Dante is survived by his beloved children Karen Dodd and her husband Bill, James DiCaprio and his wife Anne Squadrito and Paula Lemoi and her husband Ray; two brothers Victor DiCaprio and Umberto DiCaprio; his 5 cherished grandchildren Matthew Renehan and his wife Kelly, Raymond Lemoi, Alyssa Lemoi, David Lemoi and his wife Brittany, and Patrick Dodd; one great grandson Ethan David Renehan, who he adored, as well as many nieces and nephews, dear friends and his best “little buddy” his furry friend Ninja who had been his constant companion throughout his illness.

Dante is also predeceased by his oldest son David Alan DiCaprio, his siblings, Emelia DiCaprio, Antoinette Palazzo, Josephine DiCaprio, Felix DiCaprio, Vincenzo DiCaprio, Peter Ciccarone Sr., Antoinette Muschiano, Livia Mann, Alexander DiCaprio, Benito DiCaprio, and Pasquale DiCaprio Jr.

His funeral service will be Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 12:00 pm at the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry.  Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery.
