DAVID EUGENE BARTON

BARTON, DAVID E., 88, of Coventry, passed on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Cedar Crest Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mavis M. (Ramsey) Barton in 2013. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Buell Barton Sr. and Miriam (Stafford) Barton.

David graduated from LaSalle Academy and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Brown University in 1953. He was a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War. David was employed at IDS Financial Services for many years, before retiring from the Speidel Division of Textron in East Providence. 

He enjoyed spending time with his family and dear friends of more than 50 years, Gloria and Harry Nicolopoulos. Dave was a zealous golfer and an ardent student of the game.

He was the beloved father of Rosalie Soldano of NH, Juliana Rowland (Walter) of SC, Lynn Sisson (William) of Coventry, and Colleen Greco (Donald Stone) of Warwick. He was the brother of Buell Barton Jr. also of Warwick and the late Faith Ratcliffe. “Pops” was the much loved grandfather of Jordan and Declan Rowland, and Hillary Sisson. 

A Requiem Eucharist will be Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10 am in St. Francis Episcopal Church, 132 Peckham Lane, Coventry, RI 02816. Interment with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted, memorial donations to St. Francis Episcopal Church will be appreciated. Arrangements by Iannotti Funeral Home, Coventry.
