DONALD G. JACQUES

Donald Jacques, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9th 2019 at the age of 54. Don was born on October 27th, 1964 to Judith and Gerard Jacques. Don graduated from West Warwick High School and went on to Rhode Island College obtaining his bachelor’s degree in social work and master’s degree in education. Don’s achievements in life were numerous, beginning with his work as a self-employed contractor. After becoming paralyzed, at the age of 27, he went on to earn his degrees and became a teacher. As a fourth grade teacher at Washington Oak Elementary School in Coventry, his hard work paid off when he was awarded the honor of “Teacher of the Year”. But his greatest achievement of all was becoming a father to his two children, Brandi and Ethan Jacques. He was a loving father and provider, always putting his family first. His memory will live on through his sister Lori Farias and brother-in-law Tom Farias and his nephew and niece Christopher and Tracy Farias. Everybody who knew Don knew he had a way of making you smile. His charisma and light hearted jokes had a way of lightening a mood and making you smile. Don had many hobbies, some of his favorite things to do were fishing, listening too old rock tunes, and watching the chargers get their ass kicked. But Don wasn’t the type of person to give up on anything, his dedication and passion for the things he loved was unrivaled. He provided strength and comfort too all of the people lucky enough to be involved in his life. His accomplishments and spirit will forever live on through the tremendous amount of friends, family, and young students who will never forget the care and love he put into each and every one of them. He will always be remembered as a loving father, son, brother and friend. After all of the fights and struggles he went through in his life, he can finally rest peacefully knowing he impacted so many people, in so many positive ways. 

Visitation will be Sunday, July 14 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry.  A funeral service will be held at 3:30 during the visitation. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you help support Don's love of education by donating to a scholarship in his name.  The scholarship will be managed by the Coventry Teacher's Alliance and be awarded to Coventry High School Seniors.  Checks can be made payable to:  CTA Scholarship Fund.  Please put Don Jacques in the memo so the donation is directed appropriately.  Donations can be sent to CTA Scholarship Fund, 40 Reservoir Road, Coventry, RI  02816
