DONALD FRANCIS ROONEY

ROONEY, DONALD F., 85, a man of service to his Family, Church and Country, passed away at  his home in Coventry on Thursday, March, 15, 2018. He was the Husband of Mabel J. (Fawe) Rooney for 46 years. Born in Brighton, MA, he was a son of the late Patrick J. and Mary B. (MacDonald ) Rooney.

Donald was an Engineer for the former Sealol Manufacturing Company before retiring. Donald served as First Class Airman in the US Airforce during the Korean War. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard until 1982. He was a dedicated parishioner at Saints John and Paul Church. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, and opened the Church and Chapel for daily masses for years, he also served in any many other facets at his beloved Parish.

Donald was the brother of Robert Rooney, Mary Brauman, Jean Riley and Kathy DiCenzo. He was predeceased by several other siblings. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visiting hours are Monday, March 19, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial followed by military honors at 12 pm in Saints John & Paul Church, Coventry. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Coventry Animal Shelter, 1075 Main St., Coventry, RI 02816 will be appreciated.
