CAPUANO JR, FRANK, “CHICK” 88, of Pawtucket, RI, passed away on February 9,2018. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Diega (Fazzio) Capuano. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frank and Carmela (Madonna) Capuano. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons and their wives, Michael and Darlene of Warwick; Richard and Sonya Abdow Capuano of Bristol, along with their two children, Alyssa and Brendan. He also leaves his siblings Robert Capuano of Utah, Amelia Green of Oregon, and Marion Lapatti of Cumberland, many brother and sisters in-laws and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces who he loved dearly. His siblings Arthur and Joseph Capuano, and Gloria Gabrielli precede him in death.
He grew up in the Hartford Avenue section of Providence and worked for his father in their family poultry business on Federal Hill as a child. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service.
He was a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Army and the R.I. National Guard. He served overseas in both Korea and Vietnam. He proudly served as a member of the 107 Signal Company of RI.
Chick was known for his tremendous smile, and his ability to see the good in all people. He had a great sense of serenity and those who knew him relied on his courage and his wisdom. He would help anyone in need. He happily helped many people in his lifetime.
His funeral was private, and he was laid to rest with full military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to his favorite charity, the Amos House in Providence. Donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Recovery International are also greatly appreciated.
