GARY WILLIAM EWIN

EWIN, Gary William, 67, of 2001 West Shore Road, passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the J. Arthur Trudeau Residential Home in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Leon R. and Lorraine M. (Potvin) Ewin.

Gary grew up in West Warwick and spent his early years in the public and special education school systems before he began his association with The J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center as a teenager.  His involvement in the recreation programs led to his employment through the Trudeau Workshop at the Patterson Building where he participated in vocational activities until 2014.  Over the decades Gary was involved in the Special Olympics programs and was an active member of the various social group activities Trudeau provided.  In the early 1990’s, Gary moved into the residential group home “2001” where he has resided until his death. Gary enjoyed dining out, Boy Scouts and camping, traveling to Florida and New York City, ME TV and the old classics of the 1970’s, (including every TV Western ever made) and the company of young and attractive ladies, babies and his beloved “Lamb Sheep”.

He is survived by his sister, actress Paula Ewin of New York, NY, numerous loving cousins across the country, his family and friends at 2001 West Shore Road and the Trudeau Center community. His remains will be interred with his parents at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter in the near future. 

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 

at 4:30 PM at the Larkin Recreation Building 3445 Post Road, Warwick, located directly behind the main Trudeau building.
