SPELLMAN JR., HORACE W. “JAKE” age 72, of Whitman Street, Coventry, passed away at the Hope Healthcare Services in Lehigh Acres, Florida, with his loving sister Rose M. Burke by his side, on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Horace W. Spellman Sr. and Rose (Mullen) Spellman.
Jake was employed for many years as a truck driver before retiring. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jake raced modified cars at the Seekonk Speedway for many years where he was known on the track as “Jake the Snake”. He also enjoyed fishing.
He was the father of David Spellman, the brother of Rose M. & Alan C. Burke of Coventry, Edward J. Spellman of Providence, and the late Joseph F. Spellman and Robert M. Spellman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Lynn-Ann S. and her husband Louis, and Alan C. Burke II, as well as his family and friends in Florida.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Committal Service with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 So. County Trail, Exeter, RI on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:30 am.
