FONTAINE, James E., 91, of Mishnock Rd., West Greenwich, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. He was the husband of the late Susan J. (Albro) Fontaine.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Harry and Mollie (O’Rourke) Fontaine.
James “Jim” Fontaine was the proud proprietor of the Mishnock Roller Skating Rink for over 20 years and enjoyed handing out skate rentals while keeping the records playing. Jim loved taking photos at many Coventry High School sporting events including football and wrestling. I’m sure there are many past CHS athletes that still have an old black and white photo that Jim took, developed and printed. Jim’s passing signals the end of an era for great french fries on the northern shores of Lake Mishnock at the Molly O. Jim will be remembered as an awesome gardener, magician, wood worker, brick layer, card shark, and diehard Red Sox/Patriots fan who will be sorely missed by all…....including the squirrels.
He is survived by his children, James Fontaine and his wife Sandy of Crofton, MD, Timothy Fontaine and his wife Deborah of Pasadena, MD, Mary E. DeCristofano of Exeter and Carolyn L. Feaster and her husband Jeffrey of South Kingstown; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Harry Fontaine, Jr., Kate Zarr and Mary MacKillop.
His Committal Prayer Service and Military Honors will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10:30 am in the Chapel at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends may gather in front of the Administration Buildings at 10:15 am and then we will proceed to the Chapel at 10:30 am. Visiting hours and flowers respectfully omitted.
