FONTAINE SR., JOSEPH J. “BOOMERANG”, 67, of Murray St., Coventry, passed at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. He was the husband of Lynn M. (Bell) Fontaine for 46 years. Born in Providence he was a son of the late Harry G. and Jeannette A. (Arcand) Fontaine.
Joseph had been a supervisor at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Quonset Point for 20 years before retiring in 2015, he had previously was an auto mechanic for 20 years at the Firestone Car Care Center in Warwick. He was a member of the Club Jogues in Coventry where he had been a bartender on Saturday nights for many years. He enjoyed fishing.
He was the father of Joseph J. Fontaine Jr. and his companion Nicolette Hopkins of Coventry and Melissa A. Woodhouse and her husband Paul of Cranston. He was the grandfather of Eric J. Woodhouse, Cotey, Kylie, and Norah Fontaine and the great-grandfather of Lily. Joseph was the brother of Harry Fontaine of West Warwick, Paul Fontaine of Warwick, Diane MacDonald and Claire Bell of Johnston.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm with a Memorial Service at 12:00 pm in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte. 117) Coventry. A reception at 1:00 pm will follow at the Club Jogues, 184 Boston St., Coventry RI 02816.
