MARIA TERESA (MELO) CARREIRO

CARREIRO, MARIA TERESA (MELO), 89, of Legion Way, Cranston, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the St. Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich. She was the wife of the late Mariano Carreiro, William Russell and Manuel Paiva. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Augusto and Maria (Perreira) Melo.
Maria was employed for over twenty years at the former Davol Rubber Company in Providence before retiring. Maria enjoyed flower gardening and making Portuguese wine.
She was the mother of Joseph M. Paiva of Coventry, Cheryl Russell of Bradenton, Florida, William Russell of Florida, Louis Russell of Providence, Michael Russell of Coventry, Vidalia Richards of Cranston, Diamond Santos of Florida, David Russell of Cranston, and the late Izidorio Paiva and Grinoalda Rioux.
Maria was the sister of Maria Eduarda Raposo of East Providence, Maria Irene Melo and Guilhermo Melo, both of the Azores, and Joao Melo of Canada. Maria is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Saturday morning, October 28, 2017 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am with a Service at 10:00 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117) Coventry. Interment in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
