MARIA E. (BETTENCOURT) SANTOS

SANTOS, MARIA E. (BETTENCOURT) 81, of Maple Avenue, West Warwick, passed away peacefully at Kent Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. She was the wife of the late Manuel S. Santos. Born in Pico, Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Manuel S. and Maria (DaConceicao) Bettencourt.

Maria was employed as a spinner at the Concordia Textile Mills in Coventry for over 30 years before retiring in 1998. Maria was a woman of great religious faith. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church.

Maria was the mother of Manuel E. “Manny” Santos, Eliana M. Santos, and Jovina C. Rosa and her husband Paul, all of West Warwick. She was the mother-in-law of the late Barbara Ann Santos. Maria was the grandmother of Sabrina, Sofia, Samantha, Sebastian Rosa, Kevin and Matt Simas. She was the great-grandmother of Aubrie and Landon. Maria was the sister of Armando Bettencourt of Pico, Azores.

A Visiting hour will be Tuesday morning, November 6, 2018 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthony’s Church. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Anthony’s Hope, 10 Sunset Avenue, West Warwick, RI 02893 would be appreciated.
