DELGIGANTE SILVA, Mary C. (DiPrete), 94, formerly of Harbour Avenue in West Warwick, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Riverview Healthcare in Coventry. She was the wife of the late Michael E. DelGigante and the late Joseph Silva.
Born in Coventry, she was a daughter of the late Guisseppe and Concetta (Papa) DiPrete.
After graduating from Providence Trade School as a seamstress, Mary stitched aircraft fabric to airplane wings at Quonset Point Naval Base. As well as being a devoted mom she also worked as a bookkeeper at the DelGigante Insurance Agency for her husband “Mike”. She later worked in the offices of Scott Labs in West Warwick R.I.
Although Mary had several hobbies she and her “green thumb” could most often be found tending her flower gardens.
For the last 3 years Mary enjoyed the staff and residents at Riverview Healthcare Community in Coventry. If she wasn’t reading, she could be found doing arts and crafts, playing bingo or just socializing. When asked how she was doing, most often her response was “F” and “D”, fine and dandy.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Betty T. (DelGigante) D’Ammassa and her husband Alan of Shelton, CT and Beverly A. (DelGigante) Stamp and her husband Joseph of Warwick; a brother, Anthony DiPrete of Florida; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her Funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in STS. Rose and Clement Church, 111 Long St., Warwick. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the “Activities Fund” at Riverview Healthcare Community, 546 Main St., Coventry, RI would be appreciated.
