SZERLAG, MONICA L. “Molly” (Klimaszewski), 91, formerly of Princeton Ave., Coventry, passed away surrounded by loving family on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the South County Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Joseph A. Szerlag in 2015. Born in South Attleboro, MA, she was a daughter of the late Marcin and Hedwiga (Buturla) Klimaszewski.
Monica was employed at Metropolitan Life for 15 years before retiring. She was previously employed at Bradford Soap and during World War II she was a welder at a gun sight manufacturing company in Cumberland. She was active and a volunteer at the Coventry Senior Center, and belonged to the Anthony PNA and the former Coventry Grange. Monica and her late husband volunteered for almost 50 years at the Our Lady of Czenstochowa Shrine in Doylestown, PA.
She was the mother of Stephen (Jane) Szerlag of Hatboro, PA, Janice (Edward) Reed of Murrells Inlet, SC, David (Laura) Szerlag of Highland Beach, FL, Cynthia (David) Havas of Charlestown, and the late Donna Paolino and her husband James Paolino of East Greenwich. She was grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 18. Monica was sister of the late Stanley, John, and Andrew Klimaszewski.
Visiting hours are Thursday morning, November 29, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church. Interment in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington St., Coventry, RI 02816 would be appreciated.
