SIMEONE, RALPH, 93, of Monterey Drive, passed at the St. Elizabeth Home on Monday, February 12, 2018. He was predeceased by his wife Marie D. (Costantino) in 1999 and his son Joseph R. Simeone in 2014. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Amelia (DeClemente) Simeone.
Ralph was employed in sales for many years at Twin City Supply in Providence, and most recently for Columbus Door Co. in Warwick, before retiring. Ralph proudly served his Country in WWII. He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army 1st Infantry Division also known as The Big Red 1. He fought with valor in five major campaigns and battles in the European Theater including the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Ralph enjoyed travelling, sun filled days at the beach, maintaining his properties, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was the father of Lori J. Sammartino and her husband Rocco of Saunderstown and Robert P. Simeone and his wife Lucy of North Kingstown. Ralph was the grandfather of Cara J. (Daniel) Cerio, Kristen M. (Luke) DiNezza, Elizabeth R. Sammartino, Kayla E. Simeone, and Brandon W. Simeone; and the great-grandfather of Rocco J. DiNezza. Ralph was the brother of Mary Simeone, Julia DiOrio, both of Cranston, and the late Palma Salvatore. He is also survived by his niece Michele Morello and her husband Richard, and many other nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are Tuesday morning, February 20, 2018 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with a Service at 11:00 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry. Interment with military honors in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association ( www.diabetes.org ) will be appreciated.
