LESNIAK, RICHARD T. “DICKY” 86, of Centre St., Coventry, a retired US Postal Service mail carrier, passed away at the Riverview Healthcare Community on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 with his son Tad R. Lesniak by his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Jacqueline T. (DesGranges) Lesniak in 2015. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Tadeus J. and Viola (Millette) Lesniak. Richard was the brother of Jeanne L. Petrarca and her husband Vincent of West Warwick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Richard was employed for 30 years at the Coventry Branch, US Postal Service, before retiring. Richard attended Mt. St. Charles High School, before graduating from LaSalle Academy High School in Providence, Class of 1951. He played hockey while in high school earning All-State honors. Richard served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He attended Nichols College in Dudley, MA. For many years, he enjoyed his Summer Camp with his family on Johnson’s Pond, and his childhood living by Lake Tiogue in Coventry. Richard was a member of the Anthony PNA.
Visitation will be Monday, October 14, 2019 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am with a Service at 10:00 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry. Interment with military honors at Greenwood Cemetery, Coventry. iannottifh.com
