ASHWORTH, WILLIAM R., 72, of Coventry, passed away at home on Monday, December 10, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Gail (Ramsden) Ashworth.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Russell and Dorothy (Williams) Ashworth.
Whether fishing or boating, Bill enjoyed time on the water. He also loved to work, having owned and managed the Ashworth Brass Foundry in Somerset, MA, and his retirement eBay “hobby”. He was a handyman always working on something around the house, and was very proud the patent he received for his invention. Of all things, he most loved time spent with his family and his dog “Harry”.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Lisa McDonald, and her husband Raymond, of Somerset, MA, William Ashworth II, and his wife Kyle, of Holliston, MA, and Christy McGee, and her husband Jeffrey, of Assonet, MA; four step-children, Terry Gallagher, and her husband Paul, of Glocester, Tammy Begones, and her husband William, of Coventry, Barbie Rambone, and her husband Edward, of Scituate, and Matthew Buteau, and his wife Sherri, of Smithfield; 15 grandchildren, Liam, Kayleigh, Brendan, Billy, Riley, Leah, Tess, Ryan, Abi, BJ, Justin, Brandon, Ali, Drew, and Liv; four great-grandchildren, Justin, Bailey, Chloe, and Emma. Bill was a brother of Barbara Timpone, of Killington, VT, Richard Ashworth, of Berkley, MA, and Bette Goncalves, of Dighton, MA.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill’s name to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) would be appreciated. iannottifh.com
