ADRIENNE LYNN (MERRITT) ZELENAK

ZELENAK, ADRIENNE L. (MERRITT) 82, of Narragansett and formerly of Coventry, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, John S. Zelenak on April 4, 2025.  Born in Rochester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Adra C. and Ella (Patterson) Merritt.

Adrienne was raised in Beaver, Pennsylvania before settling in Rhode Island to raise her family.  Over the years, she also lived in Williamsport, Pennsylvania; Provo, Utah; and Elizabeth City, North Carolina. No matter where life took her, Adrienne always considered Rhode Island her true home.  She was employed as a secretary for the East Greenwich United Methodist Church, later in the main offices of Shawmut Bank but frequently stated her favorite and most rewarding “career“ was her time as a stay-at-home mom.   Adrienne loved vacationing with her late husband, frequenting Mexico and Hawaii.  When not traveling, she could usually be found with her nose in a book or working on a knitting project, her adored dog Aimee by her side.  She had a life long love of classical music, was an accomplished pianist and was always an active member of her church choir.  Above all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her seven grandchildren.

Adrienne was the caring mother of David M. Zelenak and his wife Nicole of Narragansett, Beth A. Allain and her husband Todd of Plymouth, NH, and Steven J. Zelenak of Coventry. She was the adoring grandmother of Michael and Abigail Zelenak, Aquinnah, Maddox, and Addison Allain, Logan Zelenak and Ethan Theroux. She was the sister of Terry Merritt and his wife Carol of Charlotte, NC.
