ALAN EDMOND CARPENTER

CARPENTER, ALAN E. 76, of Pine Avenue, Coventry, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He was the former husband of Deborah A. (Linden) Carpenter, his true love and caregiver. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edmond V. Carpenter and the late Lillian M. (Wilby) Wood; and the stepson of the late Edward Wood.

After graduating from High School, Alan was drafted into the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War in the Artillery unit, achieving expert marksman, sharpshooter, and Airborne training. After an honorable discharge, Alan went on to employment in maintenance at Leviton Manufacturing in Warwick for 30 years. He later worked as a  pipefitter at General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown before retiring in 2014.   

Alan loved spending time with his family, especially with his two granddaughters. He also enjoyed skydiving, parasailing, fishing, swimming, hiking the White Mountains and camping. He was a member and past vice-president of the Major General Nathanael Greene Homestead in Coventry, where he volunteered in many capacities. One of his proudest accomplishments was constructing the barn with historical accuracy on the Homestead property.

Alan was the father of Sherry A. Linden and her husband Nathanael of Lucas, Ohio. He was the grandfather of Alexia Curcio and Sophia Curcio. Alan was the brother of Victor Carpenter (Joan) of Warwick. Alan is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry. Interment with military honors, at Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery in Warwick.
