ALAN ALFRED OGRODNIK

OGRODNIK, ALAN A., 78, of Coventry, passed away at home in the arms of his wife, Ellen C. (Carvalho) Ogrodnik on Friday, September 1, 2023. They were happily married for 41 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Eugene F. and Maria V. “Lena” (Parente) Ogrodnik.

Alan served as a medic in the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. Before retiring in 2007, he was employed as a service technician. Alan was a communicant of Saints John &  Paul Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Blessing Council, Coventry, RI. As a Brother Knight Alan was proud to participate in many charitable activities.

All who met Alan remarked on his goodness; he dedicated his life to his wife Ellen, family and God. Alan was a kind, thoughtful and humble man; preferring to help, never expecting anything in return. He touched the hearts of many. Witnessing Alan’s perseverance and faith in God through his six-year illness was humbling. He was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, assistance, and prayers from so many.

Alan is survived by his brother Stanley Ogrodnik and his wife Patricia, his Sister-in-Law Jean Potvin and her husband Charles Wood, his brother-in-law Paul Carvalho and his wife Dawn, nine nieces and nephews and ten great nieces and nephews. Alan was the proud godfather of Susan Ogrodnik-Smith, Billy Potvin, and Justin Drescher.

His Funeral will be Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 10 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial 11 am in Saints John & Paul Church. Interment with military honors, at Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich. Visiting hours are Wednesday evening, September 6, 2023 from 4 to 7 pm.
