MARTINELLI JR., ALBERT, 79, of Coventry passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. He was the husband of Angela (Orpwood) Martinelli.
After graduating from LaSalle Academy High School in 1963, Albert served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He met his future wife Angela, while stationed in Italy, they were married on March 1, 1969. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Albert and Vincenza (Naturale) Martinelli.
Under the G.I. Bill, Albert earned an Associate’s Degree from Johnson & Wales College. He had a successful 30 year career as a Northeast Regional Sales Representative for the Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company. Albert was all about caring and providing for his family. He coached in the Apponaug Youth Baseball League achieving the first and only RI State Championship out of this League. He also mentored, coached and was a past president in the Warwick Football League. Furthermore, Albert coached in the Girls Softball League in Warwick.
He was the father of Donna L. Fulford (Christopher) of Coventry, Albert Martinelli III (Ronda) of Warwick, and Paul F. Martinelli (Erica) of Coventry. He was the grandfather of Rebecca J. Fulford, Kyle D. Fulford, Alicia J. Martinelli, Zachary C. Fulford, Alyson P. Martinelli, Paul F. Martinelli, and Jason E. Martinelli. He was the brother of Robert Martinelli (Joyce) and the late Joanne Johnson. Albert is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm with a Funeral Service followed by Military Honors at 12:30 pm in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry. Inurnment at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) would be appreciated. iannottifh.com
