ALFRED W. CAFARO

CAFARO, ALFRED W., 84, of Coventry, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Monday, February 24, 2025. He was the beloved husband of nearly 64 years to Doris R. (Fontaine) Cafaro.

A lifelong Rhode Islander, Alfred was born in Johnston to the late Alessandro and Marie Alice (Niquette) Cafaro. 

After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School, Alfred proudly served his Country in the United States Army. After his Honorable Discharge, he made his home on Johnson’s Pond in Coventry.  He worked for many years for Goodyear Tire, where he managed service centers throughout the state. 

Throughout his entire life, Alfred was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time in nature, whether hunting or fishing. He also found solace tending to his gardens and being so close to nature at his home on the pond. Above all things in his life, Alfred was happiest when he was simply spending time with his family. 

Alfred was the loving father of Michael Cafaro Sr. of Sterling, CT, and Steven Cafaro Sr. of Coventry. He was the brother of the late Peter A. Cafaro, Alessandro Cafaro Jr., Christine “Kitty” Pascale, and Beatrice Mirabella. Loving grandfather of 6, great grandfather of 5. Alfred was the beloved uncle and great uncle to many loving nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (ROUTE 3), Coventry. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 PM. Burial is respectfully private. Arrangements by the Iannotti Funeral Home.
