ALYN D. WALSHE

WALSHE, ALYN D., 79, passed away peacefully at the Alpine Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Coventry on Friday, December 27, 2024. He was the loving husband of nearly 55 years to Carol (Peltier) Walshe.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late  William and Virginia (Vaughn) Walshe. 

Alyn proudly served his country in the United States Navy, stationed on the USS Piedmont. Upon his Honorable Discharge, Alyn continued his service as a civilian at General Dynamics Electric Boat-Groton, where he was an Ultrasonic Inspector. 

Alyn volunteered nearly 35 years to youth sports in Coventry and Club teams near and far. Including Coventry little league, Coventry Soccer Association, Coventry High School, and Bayside FC. Often known to kids around town as “Papa” Walshe, he enjoyed photography. A passion he picked up during his time in the service, documenting his travels around the pacific. Alyn loved to spend time outdoors, walking around their property maintaining the grounds. In his free time, and after retirement, Alyn would spend his days checking in on those around town or close by, always offering a helping hand. You’d never know when he would stop by, just to make sure you were ok with a smile, contagious laugh and a good dad joke. 

Alyn is survived by his sons, Lee Walshe, his wife Jessica, and Devin Walshe. He was the loving “Bamps” of Haylee Walshe, Lillee Walshe. He was the brother of the late David Walshe. He is also survived by his dear sisters-in-law, Lois Walshe, Francine Murphy, her husband Frank, and Marilyn Lacas, her husband George.  

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, with a Funeral Service to commence at 11:00 AM, in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (Route 3), Coventry. Inurnment with Military Funeral Honors to follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
