WHITAKER, ANDREW J. “Andy”, 57, of Noella Avenue, Coventry, passed away at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, with his loving family by his side, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. He was the father of Seminarian Nicholas J. Delfino-Whitaker. He is also survived by Nicholas' mother Sherri L. Delfino, of Coventry. Born in Providence, he was a son of Nancy P. (Fagan) Whitaker of Coventry and the late Richard E. Whitaker.
Andrew graduated from Coventry High School in 1983. He went on to employment as an electrician at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Quonset for many years. He later worked at Amtrol Inc. Andrew enjoyed freshwater fishing and spending many summers in Maine. He will also be remembered for his quick wit and fun loving personality.
Andrew was the brother of Gail P. Whitaker of West Warwick, Stephen L. Whitaker of Coventry and Russell P. Whitaker (Robin) also of Coventry. He was the brother of the late Richard E. “Rick” Whitaker Jr. and James M. “Jimbo” Whitaker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Monday, February 6, 2023 at 10 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in SS John & Paul Church. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich will be private.
