ANGELO PADULA Sr. Obituary

PADULA Sr., ANGELO A., 98, a lifelong resident of West Warwick, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his devoted family on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. He was the beloved husband of 71 wonderful years to the love of his life, Frances R. “Fran” (Colicchio) Padula.

Born in West Warwick, Angelo was one of nine children born to the late Luigi and Enrichetta (Petrangelo) Padula.

A proud and patriotic man, Angelo was the epitome of one who was born in the Greatest Generation. At the young age of 19, he enlisted in the US Army at the height of WWII. He served as a Combat Medic, under the command of General George S. Patton, braving the battlefront during the most vital time in the European Theater. His time in Europe brought him to the frontlines of the Ardennes Forest in Belgium. Angelo saw first hand the toils of war that took place during the Siege of Bastogne and the many other skirmishes that encompassed the Battle of the Bulge. Angelo was honorably discharged from the US Army in September of 1945. Upon his release, he was respectfully awarded the Good Conduct Medal; and the European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbons.

Angelo was the Owner and Operator of Angelo Padula & Son Inc. Salvage Yard for many years. He enjoyed coaching and sponsoring his children’s softball and basketball teams, and left a lasting impression on all his players. Above all, Angelo will be remembered for being a great father and grandfather, and a very beloved uncle.

He was the loving father of Angelo A. Padula Jr., and his wife Penny, and Carlene Marchessault, and her husband Steven, of West Warwick. Grandfather of Ashley Hughes, Brittany Hughes, Zachary Padula, and Nichole Marchessault. Brother of the late Domenic, Giuseppe, Joseph, John “Sammy”, Ralph, Anthony “Tony”, Michael Padula, and Lucy Parente. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
