TATTRIE, ARTHUR T. “MadDog” 81, of Coventry passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. He was the husband of Suzanne Lee (Blaeser) for 55 years. Born in Providence, RI and raised in Bristol, RI, MadDog was the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Byrnes) Tattrie.
After graduating from the former RI Vocational Technical School in 1963, MadDog enlisted in the US Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, MadDog earned an Associates Degree from Rhode Island Radio and Electronics School, and obtained his Master Electricians License. Most recently, MadDog retired in 2014 after 20 years of employment at Toray Industries in North Kingstown.
Growing up in Bristol, MadDog loved Narragansett Bay. In his youth, he once water-skied across the bay from Bristol to Rocky Point Park, an achievement he shared often with his family. He was a true adventure seeker, taking his boat all along the Hudson River and Erie Canal, camping on various islands throughout Narragansett Bay and traveling by motorcycle throughout the northeast, as far north as Nova Scotia. MadDog loved to repair and tinker, he could fix anything. He was quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it, whether strangers or friends, he would drop everything to help. He was an avid scuba diver and especially loved diving in the U.S. Virgin Islands of St. Thomas and St. John. He and his family have been swimming and water skiing for over five decades on Johnson’s Pond in Coventry.
MadDog was all about caring and providing for his family. He was the father of Arthur T. Tattrie Jr. and his wife Jaime of Coventry, Benjamin J. Tattrie and his wife Christine of Coventry, Bonnie L. Blair and her husband Justin of Exeter, and Joshua D. Tattrie and his wife Elizabeth, also of Coventry. He leaves his grandchildren Summer and Lucas Blair, Arthur III and Aidan Tattrie, Easton and Waverly Tattrie; bonus grandchildren Mackenzie and David Hall and Nicholas and Brianna D’Ambra; and one bonus great-grandson, Benjamin Pardy. He was the brother of Amrie Alexandre, Geraldine Humphrey, both of Bristol, and the late Sarah Caizzi and Paula Calandra. MadDog is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his beloved grand-dog Boggsie.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with Military Honors to commence at 4:00 pm at the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry.
