BIAGIO A. "BENNY" D'ONOFRIO

D’ONOFRIO, BIAGIO A. “BENNY”, 95, of West Warwick, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 22, 2025. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years Janet G. (Pennacchini) D’Onofrio in 2007. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Levino and Concetta (Zinni) D’Onofrio.

Benny graduated from Central High School in 1947, and he attended many of his class reunions. Benny enlisted and served his Country in the US Navy during the Korean War. After an Honorable Discharge, Benny began his career as a commercial artist and graphic designer. He was employed for over thirty five years at the former Warwick Shoppers World and later the New York Lace Company. Benny was a well-known local artist. He was painting until recently. He enjoyed taking drives throughout Rhode Island, where he knew all the back roads and shortcuts to many scenic destinations. In particular, Benny loved driving to the Beavertail State Park observing, capturing and painting the natural beauty of the coastline. Benny was a member of the Tin Can Sailors which is the National Association of Destroyer Veterans.

He was the father of Christine D’Onofrio and her husband Marco Hernandez, Diane Davison and her husband Bob, Jeanne D’Onofrio and her spouse Debra Meyers, David D’Onofrio and his wife Nancy, and John D’Onofrio and his wife Suzanne. Benny was the grandfather of Spenser Davison, Jordan Silva, Jake D’Onofrio, Kayla Rogers and Amelia Hernandez. Benny is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be Friday morning, June 27, 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:15 am with a Funeral Service at 11:15 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry. Interment with Military Honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Tin Can Sailors, P.O.
