COVENTRY- Bruce A. Raffensperger, 55, of Coventry, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2021, after a courageous and valiant battle with ALS at the Respiratory and Rehab Center of RI.
Born on June 24, 1966, in Danbury, CT, he was one of four children born to John D. and June (Farnum) Raffensperger.
For many years, Bruce worked in Manufacturing within the jewelry and plastic industries. He took great pride in a job well done and worked to the best of his capabilities, even in the midst of living with a difficult ailment.
In his spare time, Bruce enjoyed watching football. He was an avid painter, creating wonderful pieces of art. Due to his inability to use his hands as ALS progressed, Bruce learned to paint with his mouth, continuing to make art.
A devout follower of Jesus Christ, Bruce was a member of Knotty Oak Baptist Church in Coventry. He was close with many church goers, who would often visit him at the rehab facility. Even on his toughest days, Bruce was comforted with the beliefs the church taught him and he was surrounded by love, support, and prayers from his church family.
Bruce is survived by his three proud children: Corey, Kassaundra, and Andrew Raffensperger; his siblings: Ed, Karl, and Dawn Raffensperger; and extended family members and his caring church family.
Services at Knotty Oak Baptist Church, Coventry and interment will be held privately.
