Cecile C. Gervais (Chevalier) 89, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2021. She was the wife of the late Donald Rudolph Gervais "Pee Wee" who she was married to for 72 years before his passing. Born in West Warwick and living most of her life in Coventry, she was the daughter of Simeon L. and Merilda (Lafond) Chevalier. She was the loving mother of Raymond Gervais (Rosalie) of Johnston, Dianne Challberg (Kurt) of Exeter and David Gervais (Elaine) of Coventry.
Her beloved Grandchildren are Raymond, Jr., Stephanie, Kristen, Michael, Cherie, Daniel and Katherine.
Her cherished great grandchildren are Brey-Leigh, Julia, Megan, Emma, Kailey, Jenna, Alex, Andrew, Amanda and Aaron. She also has a great-great grandson -Weston.
She was the loving sister of the late Paul, Leon, Donat, Joseph, Maurice, Richard and Henry Chevalier and of her late sister Rose Amaral.
Cecile had been a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Coventry since childhood. Before retirement, she was employed as a factory worker and later a housekeeping employee at Coventry High School.
Cecile loved to be around people and spent much of her time at the YMCA where she enjoyed swimming, exercising and knitting for the Kent County YMCA AOA Knitting Club. At the knitting club she would crochet shawls and blankets for the poor and homeless. In 2005, she received an award for being the outstanding volunteer of the year.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday morning, December 30, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:15 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., Coventry (Rte. 95, exit 6, Rte.3), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 6 Saint Vincent de Paul Street, Coventry.
