ALLIN, CHARLES C., 79, of Brooklyn, CT and formerly of Hernando, FL and Coventry, RI passed away at home on Saturday, July 27, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Mary F. (Westerberg) Allin in 2023. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Raymond and Alva (Guertin) Allin.
Charles graduated from Cranston West High School, class of 1963. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Tech and a minor in Animal Science Wildlife Biology from URI in 1968. Charles was a Senior Waterfowl Biologist for the Dept. of Environmental Management with the State of RI for 35 years, retiring in 2004. He was an active member of Ducks Unlimited and served as chairman in the RI Northwest Chapter. Charles was a skilled waterfowl hunter and fisherman, and he was a dedicated advocate for our natural resources. Charles always had a loyal black Labrador Retriever by his side, presently Chester.
He was the father of Eric M. Allin and his wife Jennifer of Brooklyn, CT and the late Melissa E. Allin. He is also survived by his grandchildren Charlie, Seanna and Kyle Allin, and nieces and nephews. Charles was the brother of the late Paul, Ernest, Raymond and Thomas Allin.
Visiting hours are Friday morning, August 2, 2024 from 8:30am - 10:30am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial 11 am in Saints John & Paul Church. Interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
