CLAIRE YVONNE (PLANTE) DECESARE

DECESARE, CLAIRE YVONNE (PLANTE) age 82, of West Warwick, RI passed into eternal rest on Friday, November 18, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 14, 1940 to the late William and Maria (Peltier) Plante. Claire was faithfully married to Robert H.M. DeCesare until his tragic passing in 1966. She never remarried and, as a testament to her strength, raised three successful children on her own.

She worked for the State of Rhode Island until her retirement. Claire’s family was her true pride and joy. A day never went by that she was not in contact with one of her children, grandchildren, siblings, or cousins—whether it be by phone or visit. A day also never went by that she did not brag about them. Claire and her devoted daughter, Lori, lived together until her passing. They were inseparable. When her grandchildren were young, Claire and Lori enjoyed driving around during the Christmas season to look at the lights and decorations in the surrounding neighborhoods. Her grandchildren have grown to carry on the same tradition whether it be on their own or with their own families. Claire also had a love for family cookouts and enjoyed yearly parties at her sons’ houses. During the holidays, her home was always a hub for anyone who needed a good meal and even better company.

She was a devoted Patriots fan and spent countless hours both cheering and cursing the team from the comfort of her own living room, watching them play on TV. Claire always made an effort to attend the sporting and scholastic events of her children; Crompton Little League, West Warwick Steelers Pop Warner Football, West Warwick High School Wizards Baseball, Football, and Wrestling, for example; and also for her  grandchildrens sporting events—sometimes with the same enthusiasm! As a member of the community, Claire was active in the Coventry Men’s Club Ladies’ Auxiliary. 

Claire is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H.M. DeCesare; her son, Baby Boy DeCesare; her sister, Jeanette Bingham; her brothers-in-law, Armand Leroux, Richard “Red” Baughan, and John DeCesare; and her sister-in-law, Esther Plante. She is survived by her children, Michael DeCesare (Cecile), Keith DeCesare, Sr. (Cheryl), and Lori DeCesare; grandchildren, Michaela Hindle (Greg), Keith DeCesare, Jr., Ryan DeCesare (Theresa), and Lisa Caperton (Dan); great- grandchildren, Troy, Emily, and Daisy; brother, Raymond Plante; sisters, Georgiana “Rita” Leroux, Lorraine Mercier (Danny), and Claudette Baughan; brother-in-law, Gary Bingham; her four-legged grandbaby, Sophie; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 10:00 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home 415 Washington St, Coventry, RI (Rte.117) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Vincent de Paul Church, Coventry. Interment in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Warwick.
