CONSTANCE D. SCHMITT, 81, of Coventry, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Constance was the beloved wife of nearly 60 years to Ronald J. Schmitt.
Born in Providence, Constance was the daughter of the late Aurela F. and Jeannette B. (Monte) Marquis.
A graduate of St. Charles High School, Connie then went on to attend Johnson & Wales University where she furthered her education. She spent her career as a Medical Assistant, working at medical facilities throughout Rhode Island for many years. She was an active parishioner at the Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa. She cherished her time spent alongside her dear friends in the “Basket Ladies” group where she poured her heart into assembling the raffle and theme baskets for the annual Christmas Holiday Bazaar and the summer Polish Festival. Connie found peace tending to her garden and rooting for the Boston Red Sox. As a life long Boston Bruins fan she rarely missed a game and was always ready to cheer them on through every season. Following her diagnosis with Parkinson's disease, Connie laced up her boxing gloves and took up boxing. She deeply valued the strength, camaraderie, and supportive community she found among her fellow fighters. A gifted crafter, she poured her heart into making beautiful, handmade cards for friends and family, and she created countless scrapbooks to lovingly preserve her family's most cherished memories. But above all, time spent with her family is what Connie cherished most. She will truly be missed.
Besides her loving husband, Ronald, Connie is survived by her children, Karen Robinson, her husband E.J., and Andrew Schmitt. Loving grandmother of Emily Robinson.
