DANIEL E. NORTHUP JR.

NORTHUP JR, DANIEL E., 70, of Coventry, passed away with his family by his side at Kent Hospital on Saturday, April 5, 2025.  Fondly known as "Big Dan" he was the beloved husband of Debra L. (Keener) Northup also known to family and friends as "Princess Deb".  Together they were married for over forty three years celebrating their anniversary on July 4, 1982.  Born in Warwick, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Daniel E. and Lucy D. (Theroux) Northup.

Big Dan was raised in Coventry, where he established his roots though out the community.  After attending Coventry High, he went on to work for Richmond Sand and Gravel of Hope Valley for over twenty years.  His love and dedication as a payload operator would also lead him to work at Oldcastle Lawn and Garden of Hope Valley, for another decade until his retirement.  Dan enjoyed woodworking,  boating on the bay, catching a few quahogs, vacationing in the Caribbean and Aruba, but especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He was the father of Christopher Northup of Coventry, Jessica Kelly and her husband Sean of Norwood, MA. and Jessica Braga  of Seekonk, MA.  Dan was the cherished grandfather of Kaitlyn Harrison Northup, Christopher Northup Jr., Dylan Braga, Layla Rose Kelly and Fiona Isabell Kelly.  He was the brother to; Charles Northup of Coventry, Sue Foss of Coventry, Lori Pearson of North Kingstown and the late Gloria Zinni.
