DAVID CAPWELL Obituary
CAPWELL, DAVID H., 76, of Coventry, passed away peacefully at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence while surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 8, 2026. David was the loving husband of nearly 55 years to Linda (Johnson) Capwell.
Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Howard and Mildred (Cunningham) Capwell.
As a lifelong resident of Coventry, David was a graduate of Coventry High School’s Class of 1967. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Navy Reserves before attending trade schools to become a Marine Mechanic. He owned and operated Capwell’s Sports Center on Pilgrim Avenue, Coventry, for over 40 years. In his spare time, David found solace being in nature, especially while on hunting trips or freshwater fishing with his sons.
He was the loving father of Scott Capwell (Kristen), and Jason Capwell (Jennifer). Grandfather of Adam Capwell (Shannon), Zachary Capwell, Madison Capwell, Matthew Capwell, and Jaime Capwell. He was the brother of Carol Labonte, Eleanor Johnson, and the late Richard Capwell and Sandra Souza. David is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
Funeral Services and burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Coventry are respectfully private.
