FISH, DAVID W., age 90, a retired meat inspector with the USDA, and a U.S Navy veteran passed away at the Summit Commons Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Providence, on Friday, August 23, 2024. He was the former husband and life partner of Marie Fish. Born and raised in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Harold and Lilian (Sinkinson) Fish.
David graduated from East High School in Pawtucket where he excelled in all sports and held many baseball pitching records. David enlisted in the United States Navy and served for four years. After an honorable discharge, David was employed as a meat cutter for the Newton Packaging Company for many years. His career also led him to work in California for the United States Department of Agriculture for two years.
David loved spending time with his family, dabbling in real estate and going out to dinner. One of his favorite restaurant was the Cornerstone Pub in Exeter where they made his favorite drink, a Manhattan. The Manhattan was his signature cocktail throughout his entire life. Dave loved finding bargains at consignment stores and played his lottery numbers almost every day. He was a wonderful story teller and his family treasures all of the stories of his life. He loved listening to Frank Sinatra and loved opera music, especially Jan Pearce.
He was the beloved father of David W. Fish Jr. (Christine) of Wakefield, Kevin Fish (Randi) of North Stonington, CT, and Diane Veyera (Richard) of Warwick. David was the brother of Marilyn Barr. He was the grandfather of Danielle Veyera, Taylor Fish, Lauren Briggs and the late Kyle Fish. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:45 am with a Funeral Service at 10:45 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(Rte.3) Coventry. Inurnment with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. iannottifh.com
