NIEFORTH, DAVID JOSEPH., 59, passed away at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA on Friday, January 30, 2026. He was the longtime companion of Kathleen Poissant.
Born in Warwick, David was a son of JoAnn (Chadwick) Nieforth-Bettez and the late Lloyd Warren Nieforth Sr.
After graduating from West Warwick High School, David graduated from Johnson and Wales University with his Degree in Culinary Arts. David was an accomplished Saxophonist, playing in his high school’s Jazz, Concert, and Marching band, in addition to his own band, Time-Sync, having performed at weddings and concerts throughout the state of Rhode Island. David was an accomplished bowler, having bowled several perfect 300 games, and amassing a collection of rings and trophies. He enjoyed collecting DVDs, was a fan of the Marvel Universe, the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox, and he was an endless source of trivia knowledge. David also enjoyed attending his son Riker’s Martial Arts competitions throughout the region and coaching his Little League baseball teams. David also loved seeing his daughter Amandalyn excel at cheerleading and watching her compete. Above all, David will be remembered for his patience and always being a kind and gentle soul.
He was the loving father of Amandalyn Nieforth-Thompson, her husband Jacob, and Riker Nieforth. Grandfather of Lucas, Blake, Ethan, Caden, and Jaxon. David was the brother of Lloyd Warren Nieforth Jr., his wife Lisa, of Lincoln, and April Small, her late husband James, of Warwick. David was the stepfather of Jennifer Volpe, her husband Ron, and their children Raena and Karina. He is also survived by many cousins and his beloved dog, “Penny”.
Family and friends are invited to David’s Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington Street, Coventry. Burial is respectfully private.
