MICHALENKA, DEBORAH M., (HILLIER), 69, formerly of West Warwick, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the West Shore Health Center in Warwick. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Mary M. (Marcello) Hillier.
As a young girl, Deborah grew up in North Providence. She graduated from the former Saint Mary’s Academy of the Visitation Catholic High School in 1973, where she had a special bond with her “SMAV Sisters”. She was employed for over fifteen years as an X-Ray Transcriptionist at Kent Hospital.
Deborah had a strong Catholic faith and she was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Joseph Church in Natick where she was a member and a past-president of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of the Parish. Deborah’s ministry was to assist families in need, whether it be helping with heating assistance, macaroni dinners, bake sales, the soup kitchen, or purchasing and wrapping Christmas gifts for many families. Deborah enjoyed dancing, cooking, and caring for her family.
Deborah was the mother of Brian J. Peltier and his wife Lola of Leechburg, PA, and Beth A. Peltier and Aaron of Warwick. She was the adoring grandmother of Christina Peltier and Sophia Peltier. Deborah also leaves her brother Ernest J. Hillier and his wife Lori of Dudley, MA.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 8:45 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (I 95/ Exit 18/ Rte.3) Coventry, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph Church. Interment at Saint Ann Cemetery in Cranston. Visiting hours are Thursday evening 4 - 7 pm.
