CAMBRA, DENNIS M., 84, Formerly of Coventry, passed away peacefully at the Rhode Island Veterans Home, Bristol on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Patricia M. (Lima) Cambra.
Born in West Warwick, Dennis was a son of the late John and Emily (Sousa) Cambra.
Dennis was a proud graduate of West Warwick High School where he was a multi sport All State athlete, who resides in the West Warwick Athletic Hall of Fame. Along with football and basketball, Denny was an accomplished Baseball player and was scouted by professional teams before he enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A natural born athlete, he was awarded Top Honors in Physical Training while training to be a soldier at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He then served his Country, stationed in Germany, where he was a Drill Sergeant until being Honorably Discharged.
Dennis then went on to attend the University of Rhode Island where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education and Guidance and Counseling. He then continued his education, earning his Masters Degree from Providence College. He worked at the former Providence Washington Insurance Company as a Mechanical Engineer until his retirement. In his spare time, Dennis loved coaching baseball and basketball. He also was a beloved referee for the Catholic Youth Organization Basketball League.
He loved to travel with his family and friends, especially to St. Martin, Aruba, and Cancun, Mexico, making great memories all along the way. Above all, he adored being a grandfather.
He was the loving father of Jeffrey Cambra, his wife Daniela, and Lisa Marie Cambra, all of West Warwick. Adoring Grandfather, and Papa, of Alyssa and Brayden Cambra. Dear brother of the late Gloria Marchetti, Edward Cambra, Madeline Sousa, Eugene Cambra.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, December 15, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington Street (Route 117), Coventry. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Anthony Church, 1 Sunset Ave., West Warwick. Committal prayers with Military Funeral Honors to follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Dennis’s memory to St. Anthony Church, 1 Sunset Ave., West Warwick, RI, or to the Alzheimer's Association ( ALZ.org ), would be appreciated. Arrangements are by the Iannotti Funeral Home.
