DIANE A. KOWALCZYK-OBERG

KOWALCZYK-OBERG, DIANE A., 76, of Coventry, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Kent Hospital, in Warwick, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. She was the beloved wife of 55 years to Gary B. Oberg. 

Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Murray and Lucienne (Tillier) Kowalczyk.

Upon graduation from West Warwick High School Diane attended Johnson and Wales University. 

Diane worked for 25 years as an Administrative Secretary for the State of Rhode Island Services for the Blind. After her brief retirement, she worked for the Coventry School Department as a Teacher’s Assistant and Westwood YMCA After School Program. 

Diane was a member of the International Food Service Executives Association and a longtime member of the Coventry Men’s Club.

Diane was a resident of Johnson’s Pond for over 60 years and enjoyed the beauty of the pond every day. She looked forward to Sunday as family day. She enjoyed traveling to New Hampshire and Maine every year. 

She will be remembered for her selflessness, her dedication to her students, and her love of her family and friends. She always made any friend of her children feel like family and was often lovingly referred to as Mom Oberg. 

Besides her husband Gary, Diane is survived by her beloved children Erik B. Oberg, his partner Jessica Torres, and Adrienne D. Tipple, her husband Brandin Tipple, all of Coventry. Loving Babcia of Mackenzie Tipple, Joel Torres, and Emir Oberg. Diane was the dear sister of the late Frank Kowalczyk.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (Route 3). 

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington Street, Coventry. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick. 

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Diane’s memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrf.org) would be appreciated.
