DION, DONALD E., 99, of Highland Terrace, Scituate, a devoted husband and father, passed away with his loving family by his side, at the Cedars Healthcare in Cranston, on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa J. (Amore) Dion in 2000. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Albert J. Dion Jr. and Ethel P. (Nelson) Dion.
Donald, a Navy veteran of WWII, served in the Pacific Theater on the heavy cruiser USS Baltimore. After an honorable discharge, he was employed as a machine operator for Arkwright Interlaken, Owens-Corning, and retired from Cranston Print Works in 1987.
Donald enjoyed listening to music, especially Jazz, the Patriots football team, and spending time with his family.
He was the father of Gerard A. Dion and his wife Lynn of Scituate; and the grandfather of Russell G. Dion of Warwick and Giselle M. Dion of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Donald was the brother of Emile Dion of West Greenwich, Marcel Dion of Coventry, and the late Albert Dion, Anatole Dion, Maurice Dion, Jules Dion, Paul Dion, Louis Dion, Justin Dion, Carmel Miller and Nola Greco.
A Visiting hour will be on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2021 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Interment with military honors in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
