DONALD PIGEON Obituary

PIGEON, DONALD HENRY, 78, of West Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2023 at West Shore Health Center, Warwick. He was the loving husband of 22 years to Carol (Stanley) Pigeon. 

 

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph Louis Adolphe and Olevina Elise (Carbonneau) Pigeon. 

 

After growing up in the Conimicut neighborhood of Warwick, Don enlisted into the United States Navy, where he proudly served for three years. Having always been mechanically inclined, Don harnessed what he had learned in the Navy and spent his career repairing heavy equipment in the Rhode Island Army National Guard, retiring as Master Sergeant in the 861st Engineer  Company (CSE).  He will be remembered as being an incredibly gifted mechanic, a loving husband, and a loyal friend. 

 

Don was the father of the late Michael D. Pigeon and Grandfather of Lilly Pigeon. Don was the youngest brother of the late Cyprien Pigeon (Rose), Marguerite “Margie” Brennan (Jack), Beatrice Bartholomew (Harold), Cecile Doyle (George), Alice Hobin (Mel), Yvonne Pigeon, Maurice “Skip” Pigeon (Jan), Louis Pigeon (Elaine), Doris Rosenberger (Paul). Besides his beloved wife, Carol, Don is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. 

 

Committal Prayers and Military Funeral Honors will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 11:30 AM in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery,  301 South County Trail, Exeter. Those planning to attend can gather at the main entrance of the cemetery at 11:15 AM where the funeral procession to the cemetery chapel will be formed. Arrangements by the Iannotti Funeral Home.
