DORIS (BECKEY) SAFFORD

SAFFORD, DORIS (BECKEY) of East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick and formerly of Apple Blossom Lane, Coventry, passed unexpectedly at RI Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, December 24, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband Alonzo C. Safford in 1987. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Borsh) Beckey.

Doris was employed in the Marketing Dept. at Clariant Corporation in Coventry for 33 years before retiring in 2008. Doris was a dedicated member of the Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian. She belonged to the Women’s Association and the Presbyterian Women, which provide many Outreach, Missions, and Ministries throughout our Community.

She was the mother of Sharon K. Wagner and her husband John of Moscow, PA, Mary Beth Florenz and her husband Domenic of East Greenwich, and Robert A. Safford of West Warwick. Doris is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A visiting hour will be Friday, December 28, 2018 from 10 am to 11 am, with a Service at 11 am in the Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian, 805 Main Ave., Warwick, RI 02886. A Memorial gathering at the Church will follow. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Coventry will be private.  Donations to the Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian in memory of Doris would be appreciated.
