EXETER- Dorothy Piacente, 94, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of her dear family at her home in Exeter. She was the devoted wife of the late Alfed A. Piacente, Sr.
Born on September 13, 1926 in Cranston, she was one of eight children born of the late Marcello and Filomena (Palombo) Saccoccio.
For many years, Dorothy worked as a clerk in the retail industry. Her favorite job however, was being a mother to her two cherished children.
In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed drawing and admiring art. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals and watching television, especially sitcoms and Shirley Temple Movies. Above all, Dorothy enjoyed the time spent and memories made with her treasured family.
Dorothy is survived by her proud children: Alfred A. Piacente, Jr. and his wife Karen of West Greenwich and Deborah Heelon of Exeter; her 3 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Viola Tortolani of California, Marjorie Briggs of Warwick, and Marcello Saccoccio, Jr., of Cranston; also numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Dorothy is predeceased by her late siblings: Ferdinande “Fred” Saccoccio, Pasquale “Pat” Saccoccio, Mary Ricci, and Anna Nevola.
Visiting hours will be held at the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (Rte.3) Coventry on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Saints John & Paul Church in Coventry at 11:30 am, with interment at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 301 South County Trail, Exeter, Rhode Island at 1:30 pm.
