SILVERMAN, DOUGLAS F., 83, of Coventry, passed away peacefully at Kent Hospital, Warwick on Thursday, September 4, 2025. He was the loving husband of 54 years to the late Sandra L. (Doughty) Silverman. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Jack and Laura (McLeod) Silverman.
He was the loving father of David Silverman and his wife Felice of Arlington, MA., and Steven Silverman and his wife Lee of North Providence, and grandfather to their children Luke and Lacey Silverman.
After graduating from High School, Douglas proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he served as an Aviation Electrician on the USS Independence (CVA-62) aircraft carrier before his Honorable Discharge. He then went on to work in building maintenance for institutions throughout Rhode Island including the Coventry Police Department and The Providence Journal. He most recently retired from the North Kingstown School Department where he received numerous accolades and recognition for his good work there from the school and the children.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM with a Funeral Service to begin at 12:30 PM in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Road (ROUTE 3), Coventry. Following the funeral, family and friends are invited to a Memorial Reception and Celebration of Doug’s Life at the Olde Theater Diner at 33 Sandy Bottom Road in Coventry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) would be appreciated.
