EDITH MAXINE (GREENFIELD) CARSON

CARSON, EDITH MAXINE (GREENFIELD) 99, formerly of Shippee Plat Rd., Coventry, passed away one day after reaching her 99th birthday, at the Alpine Nursing Home on Monday, November 24, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Roger D. Carson Sr. in 1992. Born in Overbrook, Kansas, on November 23, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Delbert and Lena (Schmidt) Greenfield.

Edith was the mother of Candace C. Henderson and her husband Scott of Coventry, and the late Roger D. Carson Jr. and his late wife Debra C. (Northup) Carson. She was the  grandmother of Drew Carson (Christine) and Kyle Carson (Brea). Edith was the great-grandmother of Clayton and Brooke Carson, children of Kyle and Brea. Edith was the sister of the late John Greenfield and Agnes Goff.

Edith moved to Rhode Island in March 1945 and married Roger D. Carson Sr., where the couple raised their family in both the Anthony section and on Johnson’s Pond in Coventry. She was employed in retail sales at the former Seena’s clothing store in Arctic. Edith later drove a school bus for the former Town & Country Transportation with Coventry and the East Greenwich School Systems. Edith also drove for the former Pawtuxet Valley Bus Lines.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd., (95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry. Interment on the Carson family lot at Woodland Cemetery in Coventry will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Coventry Teachers’ Alliance Scholarship Fund, ℅ CHSAA, P.O.
