MORGAN, EDWARD “ED” F., 76, of Victory Highway, Greene, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the V.A. Regional Medical Center in Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Sheila E. (Garbecki) Morgan. They were happily married for 49 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Bird) Morgan.
After graduating from Cranston East High School in 1968, Ed earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island. He served in the Army National Guard for 26 years, holding the rank of Staff Sergeant at the time of his honorable discharge in 1995. Over the course of his 26 years, he received numerous awards recognizing his dedication and service. Among these, one of his proudest accomplishments was receiving an outstanding service award for his extraordinary efforts during the Blizzard of 1978. He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Ed worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 43 years, serving in several roles over the course of his career, though he spent the majority of his time as a well-known Letter Carrier on the Hopkins Hill Road route. He was a longtime member of Saints John & Paul Church.
He loved spending time with his family, traveling, and history—especially World War II. He also enjoyed target practice shooting and had a lifelong soft spot for dogs, especially the family’s loyal Labradors who were always part of the mix. One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather—he was endlessly proud of his grandchildren and loved sharing stories, laughs, and milestones with them.
He is survived by his children: Edward C. Morgan of Narragansett; Kristine M. Cieri and her husband Michael of Peabody, MA; Patrick R. Morgan of Providence; and Kelley A. Munroe and her husband Sean of Burrillville. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Collin Morgan, Nolan Morgan, Michael Cieri, Christopher Cieri, Luke Cieri, Olivia Munroe, and Connor Munroe.
Ed was the beloved brother of Thomas Morgan of Cranston, William Morgan of Providence, Jeanne Iemma of Burrillville, Sandra Harris of West Greenwich, Susan Mastrati of Cranston, and the late James “Tim” Morgan, Kathleen Lambert, and Joan Rossi.
